Best of the Summer Movies So Far?
Alex: There are still a few I haven’t seen yet that I’d really like to…namely To Rome with Love, Ted and Prometheus. Of the ones I’ve seen; however, I’d have to say Moonrise Kingdom. I’ve always loved Wes Andersen, and this one didn’t disappoint. It was also one of my favorite roles for Bruce Willis and Edward Norton. If you haven’t seen it yet, I suggest you do it.
Matt: This summer has sucked so far for movies. Which is shocking given the lineup for 2012 is still more promising than it has been in years. I’m confident both Jay and Alex will go with Moonrise Kingdom, but I thought it was Anderson’s worst yet. It didn’t have the stellar super indie soundtrack that has become a trademark of his, and that meant it didn’t have any slow-motion montages to such music. Not for me. Ted was juvenile, funny and average. Batman was fun, loud and the definition of a summer movie. But….I’d still have to go with Prometheus. Hands down some of the best visuals I’ve ever seen in a movie.
