Current Obsession: Porcelain Raft

After watching them open for Youth Lagoon, I’ve been completely hooked on Porcelain Raft’s Strange Weekend.

Porcelain Raft is Italian-born singer-songwriter Mauro Remiddi’s “bedroom pop” project. However, in PR’s live set, there is a live drummer playing alongside Remiddi. The band’s first EP, Gone Blind, was released in 2010 under Acephale records.

The 37 year old London-based artist chose “Tip of Your Tongue” as Gone Blind’s single:

Porcelain Raft’s complete full-length debut, Strange Weekends, was released under Secretly Canadian earlier this year. Continuing with Gone Blind’s dreamlike feel, Strange Weekends might be one of the best early 2012 records.

This is “Drifting in and Out,” one of my favorites off of Strange Weekends:

Porcelain Raft spent the first part of 2012 with M83 on the European leg of their current tour. Remiddi and Porcelain Raft have moved on to the US, now touring with Youth Lagoon. To see the rest of PR’s upcoming shows click here.

To close this off, this is a live version of “Shapeless & Gone,” also from Strange Weekends:
