Jel “All Day Breakfast”
One of my favorite producers ever, Jel is known for his unconventional approach to sampling and insane MPC skills. He’s served as a sort of in-house producer for the Anticon label but he’s also released his own instrumental album, Soft Money. What makes Jel especially unique is his ability to take rap music, which tends to thrives on repetition (musically, at least), and make it sound like an improvisational masterpiece. No two bars of any song are the same, really. This is one of my favorite videos ever. It’s just Jel playing his song “All Day Breakfast” live on the MPC. It’s amazing how precise he is and how layered the drums are. Do not miss this.
