Michelob Ultra 19th Hole
Today’s Mistake: Michelob Ultra 19th Hole, yet another alcopop made by AB.
Michelob Ultra 19th Hole
4.0% alcohol by volume
16 ounce can
Price: $3.29
In case the flavor, name, and can design aren’t enough to tip you off, 19th Hole is a shameless Hard Arnie Palmer ripoff. Yes, I know that the Arnold Palmer line of half-and-half drinks didn’t invent that combo, but it’s the most famous. Like the beer, the “ultra” designation means it’s super light. 4% is wine cooler territory. I don’t think it’s a secret that they’re marketing this to ladies and inexperienced drinkers, but I wonder why they chose the golf route? Sure, this style of beverage is most often associated with golf, but I think they blew a good chance to bring it off the greens. They could have done so much more, and yet here I am, disappointed. That’s Anheuser-Busch for you.
From the can.
Color
Fizzy and light brown, like most alcoholic teas.
Nose
Ugh, there’s that damn prune juice stuff again.
Taste
This is way too carbonated. Almost tastes like a soda. The flavor itself? Horrible. Metallic prune juice and fermented lemonade.
Final Verdict
Skip this crap and just make them yourself at home. You’ll save money and face. .5 out of a possible 5. Here’s a terrifying video.
