Red berry NAmsterdam is the second of their flavored vodkas, and it’ll probably end up being my favorite, since red berry is a wonderful thing. Reminds me of Swedish Fish, which are the Cadillacs of the gummy world (or perhaps the Volvos). I’ve never been a huge candy fan, but I do have a weakness for gummy and gummiesque (not a word, but it ought to be) food. I enjoy gummy Lifesavers, gummy bears, gummy cola bottles, those gummy peach rings, and of course, the king of all gummies, fruit snacks. Was there ANYTHING better than opening up a brown bag lunch and finding a pack of Gushers or America’s Choice Sharks in there? I used to be a fruit snack aficionado, and I think I’ve retained most of that knowledge. I remember Brach’s made the worst fruit snacks. They were the fruit snacks you’d see at some lameass kid’s house, the kind of kid your parents insisted you hang out with because they wanted to get sports tickets or something from the parents. Brach’s sucks. Way to ruin certain parts of my childhood.

Color
It is clear, and it will always be clear.
Nose
Smells a bit like raspberry. Hard to nail down just what kind of berry it’s supposed to be. Unless “red berries” are a real fruit and I’m missing out on something.
Taste
Since it’s only 70 proof, the shot went down easily, and damn if it didn’t taste fabulous. It wasn’t so great in the OJ, but then again, I wouldn’t have used OJ if there were anything else in the house.
Final Verdict
I love it. I would drink it straight. 4.5 out of a possible 5. Here’s the other pillar of my youth: the original Backyard Baseball, with Kenny Kawaguchi and Pablo Sanchez.
