Parrot Bay Mango Daiquiri
Today’s Mistake: Parrot Bay Mango Daiquiri. Better believe I’m drinking this from the bag.
Parrot Bay Mango Daiquiri
5.0% alcohol by volume
10 ounce bag
Price: $1.99
The price seems nice, but then you realize that there’s less liquid than a can of beer in this here baggie. This thing was also covered in “sticky” when I bought it. After a thorough wash, I threw it in the freezer, because even I won’t just drink unfrozen daiquiri mix. This is the “freeze n’ squeeze” bag: you freeze it for six hours, then let it thaw until slushy. You then serve it from the bag, or if you’re like me, squeeze it into your mouth like a mad man. Well, that’s what I wanted to do, but it got messy. I’m actually excited to try this. It’s our first bagged alcoholic beverage, at least as far as I can remember. I also have a well-documented love of “girlie” drinks. I’ve been known to order the occasional fruity cocktail, and I do love sangria. So perhaps the mango daiquiri will score highly. Only one way to find out.
I poured it into a wine glass. I don’t know what daiquiris are normally served in.
Color
Frozen Tang.
Nose
That fake mango smell we all know and love. Almost no trace of alcohol, which is nice.
Taste
Here’s the thing: as long as you take little sips, this tastes like some frozen juice that kids in Brazil might drink during the summer. But when you take longer sips or chugs, there’s a really noticeable (for something that’s 5%) alcohol burn. Very artificial, but I likes me some artificial. I grew up on quarter waters.
Final Verdict
Well thank GOD I didn’t drink this unfrozen. I kind of like it, and I think it’d be swell on a hot day. But it’s the end of December, so the score will suffer. 2 out of a possible 5. Here’s my reaction to warm Parrot Bay pouches.

I just bought 4 Parrot Bay Pina Colada’s. They were all covered with sticky too! What’s up with that???? I put them all in the freezer but I want one now, so I poured it over ice. It’s actually pretty good. They were on sale 2 fer $3.00. Not bad.
the stickiness must be some side effect of the shipping process. at least I hope it is. and yes, these are mighty delicious
